Thankfully, STEVE O SENT ME AN INTERESTING STORY IN THE WASHINGTON POST, WHERE THEY DID MEDIA ANALYSIS OF THE AMOUNT OF COVERAGE DIFFERENT CANDIDATES WERE GETTING SO I WILL DO A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF THAT.. The CLINTON CAMPAIGN HAS RECEIVED A GOOD DEAL OF COVERAGE, GARNERING 82 MINUTES IN NETWORK NEWS TIME. THAT ACTUALLY DOES NOT SOUND LIKE A LOT.. That IS SECOND ONLY TO TRUMP A STAGGERING 145 MINUTES AND WELL AHEAD OF THE NEXT MOST COVERED CANDIDATE JEB BUSH AT 43 MINUTES.. It IS NEARLY OCTOBER. THAT IS NOT A LOT OF TIME.. This IS THE NETWORK NEWS A LOT LESS TOTAL TIME FOR POLITICS THAN IF THEY INCLUDED ALL OF THE CABLE NEWS SHOWS. THEY SHOULD BE DEVOTING MOST OF THEIR TIME TO COVERING THE CAMPAIGN. It IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE., NOT THE ONLY ISSUE, BUT I WOULD SAY — A COUPLE MINUTES A NIGHT.. They SHOULD BE SPENDING SIX OR SEVEN MINUTES A NIGHT, A MINIMUM OF 35 MINUTES A WEEK.. There HAVE BEEN WHAT 40 WEEKS THIS YEAR 38 WEEKS, I CAN & # 39 T DO THAT MATH, BUT THAT IS MANY MORE HOURS THAN THE HOUR AND 22 MINUTES THAT HILLARY HAS HAD.. As FOR SANDERS, — ALL OF HILLARY & # 39 S COVERAGE. Almost ALL OF IT HAS BEEN NEGATIVE ABOUT AN ISSUE. No ONE CAN EXPLAIN.. There WAS A BREAKDOWN THEY SHOWED ABOUT HOW MUCH COVERAGE HER CAMPAIGN HAS GOTTEN AND HOW MUCH THE EMAIL CONTROVERSY HAS HAD, AND THERE ARE NETWORKS THAT HAVE DONE MORE MINUTES ON THE EMAIL SCANDAL THAN HER ACTUAL CAMPAIGN, WHICH SEEMS RIDICULOUS.. We HAVE TRIED TO LIMIT OUR COVERAGE OF IT.. It IS A TOUGH STORY FOR HER, EVEN THOUGH IT FITS WITH THE PRECONCEIVED NOTION OF HER. Even THOUGH WE DON & # 39 T KNOW WHAT THE STORY IS, AND THERE IS NOTHING THERE. MAYBE SOMEDAY THERE WILL BE. But RIGHT NOW YOU CAN & # 39 T EVEN DESCRIBE WHAT IT IS. By CONTRAST, BUSH IS POLLING POORLY IN IOWA AND NEW HAMPSHIRE AND IS POLLING NATIONALLY, AROUND 10 %. In FACT, BERNIE SANDERS HAS GOTTEN AS MUCH COVERAGE AS CHRIS CHRISTIE, WHO IS POLLING AT SOMETHING LIKE 3 % AND IS IN 27TH PLACE IN THE REPUBLICAN PRIMARY.. That IS HOW MUCH COVERAGE HE & # 39 S, GETTING WHEN HE IS BEATING HILLARY IN THE MOST RELEVANT EARLY PRIMARY STATES. HAS BERNIE SANDERS RECEIVED AS MUCH COVERAGE AS HE SHOULD. So SHE IS GIVING SOME DETAILS, BUT SHE WAS GETTING MORE COVERAGE THAN SANDERS FOR MONTHS. Even THOUGH SANDERS IS GIVING SPECIFIC SOLUTIONS TO BASICALLY EVERY PROBLEM THAT THIS COUNTRY IS FACING, THAT A POLITICIAN CAN POSSIBLY IMPROVE UPON., YOU JUST HAVE TO LISTEN TO HIS SPEECH., BUT THEY ARE NOT AS INTERESTED IN THAT.. They WILL COVER DONALD TRUMP & # 39 S SPEECH IN FULL, EXCEPT FOR THE ONE CNN PERSON WHO CUT OUT EARLY, EVEN THOUGH HE HAS NOT YET GIVEN — ASIDE FROM HIS TAX PLAN, WHICH IS A DISASTER –, ANY IDEA OF WHAT HE WOULD DO.. So I THINK THAT IF REPORTERS –, IF THEY WANT MORE SUBSTANCE OUT OF CANDIDATES, THEY SHOULD INCENTIVIZE BY GIVING THE COVERAGE WHEN THE SUBSTANCE IS THERE., IT IS NOT JUST THE PRESS.. We ALWAYS LUMP THIS ON THE PRESS. It IS THE POLITICAL ESTABLISHMENT. BERNIE SANDERS HAS AMONG ESTABLISHMENT ENDORSEMENTS AND THE ESTABLISHMENT MATTERS THAT IS WHO HAS THROUGHOUT TIME MADE THE NOMINEE BERNIE SANDERS. Has THIS MANY ESTABLISHMENT, ENDORSEMENTS. You WILL SEE THIS CHART SHOWING THE SHARE OF NEWS COVERAGE IN NATIONAL POLLING NUMBERS. The LINE IS THE AMOUNT OF COVERAGE IN THE NEWS. The DOTS ARE THE POLLS.. If WE COULD JUMP TO THE NEXT ONE, WE WILL SEE A SMOOTHING OUT OF THOSE.. This SEEMS TO SHOW A VERY CLOSE CONNECTION BETWEEN NEWS COVERAGE AND POLLS, AND THERE IS ALMOST CERTAINLY SOME RELATIONSHIP.. It MIGHT EVEN BE A STRONG RELATIONSHIP., BUT IT IS ALSO ENTIRELY POSSIBLE THAT IT IS NOT THAT THE COVERAGE IS PURELY GENERATING THE POLLS. It COULD BE THAT OBJECTIVE THINGS OUT. There ARE CAUSING BOTH MORE COVERAGE AND A HIGHER STANDING IN THE POLLS., BUT IT IS INTERESTING AND MAKES ONE WONDER IF BERNIE SANDERS HAD GOTTEN AS MUCH COVERAGE AS NOT EVEN CLINTON, BUT CLINTON & # 39 S. Intro to the Digital Media Lab: Scanning Slides and Negatives

Hello: everyone today we’re gon na learn how to digitize your old, slides and negatives, using equipment available in the Digital Media Lab the equipment we are using today is our Epson perfection B, 500 photo scanner which will scannot only regular photos and documents, but slides and negatives. As well, the program we’re going to use to scan your slides and negatives is called Epson scan to open press the Epson scan icon up down below so when Epson scan has opened. You should see this a menu here now note up near the top. It says mode and the mode we currently have here is home mode, which is the mode we want, if you don’t see home mode selected, just press mode and switch it to home mode now. The reason we want home mode is home mode, has fewer controls and less options than the other settings, but is far easier to use. It’S a main benefit, as you can select document type, which is right here. So press document, type and you’ll see your number of different documents. You can select photograph positive, film, colored, negative film and more so just press, whichever one you want, and the scanner will automatically format the settings to best match. instagram image downloader . Note that when you are scanning slides and negatives, it’s very important that you pick one of the film types, such as positive film or black and white negative film. The reason for this is, if you don’t pick one of these, the scanner will not scan them correctly. From the same menu, we can also pick our resolution for our scan, as well as the target size for our scan. Now, before we begin scanning, we need to load our media into the scanner so for normal media such as documents or photos, you just lift lid like that, then you take your media like this. Just put it facedown in the top right corner, or this little arrow is then just close, the lid. When scanning, slides and negatives, you have to do a few extra steps. The first is to lift up the scanner. You can remove this back panel here, which will reveal this scanning strip, which is what will actually be scanning, the slides and negatives. Next thing we need to scan, slides and negatives. Is this attachment right here? It has two sections to it section. A here is for your negatives and Section C here is for your slides. So if you want to insert a negative strip into the attachment, let me just unclip this section right here and then we take our negative strip and insert it right here then, with the attachment back on and then clip it shut. So once you have your negative securely in the attachment, you just take the attachment, you load it into the scanner, and you want to make sure that the a on the attachment here at just the a on the scanning bed just line it up like that. Then, if everything is secure, you closed lid and you are ready to scan your negative, so slides will work just a little bit differently with slides. We want to make sure that this C located down here is matched with the C underneath it and that when we load our slides like we have them here that they are flipped upside down, we do not want them right-side up. So if everything’s good with your slides, you just close the lid and you’re ready to scan once your media is set, you will be ready to scanned we’re going to use film negatives for this example. So we are going to switch our film type to negative film right now. It is but isn’t we would just click switch it to negative and we would be all set. So if we were scamming a normal document, we would just go down here and select scan. However, if you’re scamming, slides and negatives, you have to click preview first, so what preview will do is it will pull up a preview of each of the slides or negatives? You have separating them to individual pictures, so this will show you what each slide or photo will look like before you scan it. Not only that by clicking these check marks here we can include or exclude which pictures you want to actually be scanned. So if everything looks good, which it does here, we just go over here and press scan. So this will open up your files save settings here. We can select where the scan will go and location right. Now it’s just going to the desk top, which is where I’m going to keep it, but could also go into documents. Pictures or you can select another folder or even a flash drive down here and file name. I can pick what I want to name the file right now. The prefix is just IMG, but I can call it whatever I want and I can even select the start number for the file. So I’m gon na select start file to one and then in each scan it does. It will just keep going to a higher number down here. We have image format and the selection we have is JPEG, which is a standard file format for pictures. So there’s no need to change it. If we wanted to click it, we can go to TIFF PDF a couple other options, but for us, JPEG works just fine. If everything looks good, we just go down here and select. Ok, so now a scanning process will begin scan. Time will depend about how many pictures, you’re scanning, dpi final type and a few other factors, so we’re just gon na sit back and wait right now. It says it’ll take about couple minutes so I’ll skip ahead in the video until it is done. So once the progress bar is complete, your file will be created. Not only that, but Epson will automatically open the folder where the scan is stored, which is what we see right here on desktop so from here. We can move it copy, it share it or post it online. If you have more items to scan, you just need to load your material in and start the process over. The best part is Upson will automatically number your scan, so the files will always be named in the order you scanned them. You could also rename them later if you want to so with that. XBMC Media Center Review – App Reviews

What’S up Internet IG here with another Linux app review and today we’re going to be looking at XBMC the media center that is fairly recently undergone a new release 11.0, which is codenamed Eden now XBMC, if you’re not familiar, is much like Windows Media Center. In that, it’s just a nice centralized with lots of cool graphics and it’s basically just a way to present all of the media and entertainment that you might have on your laptop, and it’s also very nice. If you have this, if you have this running on a computer that manages all your entertainment needs plugged into your TV and all that fun stuff, so that means that you can of course play your music, your videos, your pictures and you can plug in different widgets. Like whether it displays all the different news feeds scrolling along the bottom here and it’s very connected to the network and all that fun stuff, so you can see you’ve got weather at the top here time and date. You can really use this as an operating system. In itself, if you’ve got a, if you’ve got a computer plugged into a TV, and you want to just be able to control everything using the remote, so, for instance, if we go into music, you can see. We’Ve got the music folder here and then you’ve just got all of your all of your all of your music folders that you’ve entered in through the preferences, and then you can just start playing away at one of the at one of the one of the files And then, of course, you’ve got visualizations that go in the back and it’s all extremely customizable. You’Ve got all of your options on the side here, depending on what scheme you’re, using which, of course, the XBMC media center is very skinnable and you can choose how you want this thing to look and we’re gon na have a look at that in a little Bit as well, but you can see no matter where you are in the system. You’Ve got this sidebar that can scroll out to see what you’re now playing and, of course, you’ve got your playback controls and you’ve also got you can organise your playlists and all that fun stuff as well. Then going back to the home screen, you can see that you’ve got more options there, including the programs which you can pretty much launch applications or little mini applications inside XBMC, a lot of it being expandable through their website which we’re going to look at in a Bit then, you’ve got these settings. You’Ve got the file manager, which is pretty much just like a very basic file manager here, be very easy to navigate with a TV, remote control, and it’s also very easy to navigate with your keyboard. So then, moving along to videos again depending on where you have your videos stored on your hard drive, you, you can see here that we’ve got a lot of different and video codecs installed by default, depending on what you have installed on your machine and and then Of course, the playback is very smooth and it’s all 3d graphics accelerator and it’s very very smooth with this latest release. Then moved here got the weather which you can see. We’Ve got the we’ve, got the weather forecast for the next couple of days and the temperature and all that fun stuff as well, and we’ve got a playlist video that you can pop up on the side here that you can add things to as you go along And then, of course, you’ve got your pictures folder as well, and you can see here – I’ve added some folders here from Canon and from my Canon, 2012 folder and you can easily add a source there and place slideshows depending on what you want to do. And it’s very nice fading effects in-between, so it behaves quite nicely overall. The the recent release of XBMC is has really come a long way as in terms of performance. It looks very nice indeed, you really can’t fault it when it comes to an open source application and it would be perfect in the lounge room setup, so I definitely recommend checking it out. It is in the default Ubuntu repositories for all of you running a bun for the rest of you. There are. There are XBMC packages out there for literally any distribution on the planet and, of course, if you are fiddly enough, you can install it from source code. But what we will do at the moment is we will exit the application here and you can see. We’Ve also got options here to control the computer itself, which is again geared towards those that have this use as their as their main operating system for computers plugged into their TVs. So if we exit that and we go to the XBMC website – you can see here – we’ve got different skins that you can use to customize the look of the application, which is pretty snazzy and then you’ve also got plugins and scripts. And at the moment this site is still under construction, so there you can find the latest plugins in XBMC by visiting the add-ons browser inside the settings screen, which we may as well have a look at. So if we go into system and then settings and then if we go to add-ons and we’re going to get add-ons, you can see here that we’ve got a bunch of fantastic add-ons here, including TV information, video add-on, subtitles and all sorts of other fun stuff. That’S downloadable, that’s all very easy to bolt on and expand. Xpm sees functionality, it’s very very nice. Indeed. They also have some really interesting stuff going on with their with their remote control functionality. So, for instance, for certain iOS devices they do have the capability of plugging. In with your iPad and using it as like, a remote or mirroring what is going on on your TV via the HDMI out, I’ve got a lot of interesting development stuff going on here, so definitely check out.
